Security Council

The Security Council held its first session on 17 January 1946 at Church House, Westminster, London. Since its first meeting, the Security Council has taken permanent residence at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression. It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. Under the Charter, the Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.

Anirudh Raghuram

Anirudh Raghuram, an avid MUNer is a very knowledgeable individual whose passion for MUNs is motivating and ignites a fire among aspiring MUNers. He has many feathers in his cap as he has attended 26 MUNs, a number that is certainly noteworthy and an experience worth remembering. He was the assistant director of the HMUN last year, one of the best MUNs in the country which yet again testifies his steadfast passion for debating and world affairs. Anirudh as a person is very affable and someone that you can count on as every activity he takes up is completed with immense precision. He claims to be an environmentalist and aims to establish a world where “Green Green Everywhere” is the motto. Killing leisure time is not a mind-breaking situation for him as he catches up on his dose of reading and is highly indebted to Netflix for providing him with some drama and knowledge. He also indulges in photography as and when time permits. Having chaired several MUNs, he goes on to say that chairing the Harvard MUN, China was a notable experience for him and one that will be etched in his memory forever. In his overall MUN experience he has secured awards in 16 of them which is indeed an enviable figure. He boarded the MUN Express in 2013 where his first stop was at the P.S. MUN Conference, which was special, he adds. He describes his overall experience as one which is knowledgeable and addictive which made him go back for more. It does not stop here for Anirudh as he aspires to purse International Relations and Political Science along with Economics in the near future.
